I am back with a new entry... and a new dress! I recently fell in love with the new Angelic Pretty x Kira Imai print: Doll's Tea Party. Kirai Imai is one of my favourite illustrators and I wanted to own one of her prints for a while now (well, I used to have Perfume of Wonderland but sold it because the dress didn't fit me back then... I have so many regrets...)
Unlike past collaborations (I am looking at you, Cat's Tea Party!!), I don't think this one was very popular mostly because of the infamous bear!

I hesitated about the colour: I really liked the lavender colourway and also the ivroy one but in the end I went for the black one! I thought it was more mature and casual and had more items I could coordinate it with!
I ordered it through the Paris shop, as I wanted to avoid the struggle of a release of the Japanese website. Everything went so smoothly with Paris' staff. They are the best! It costed me more in the end as I had to pay customs for Japan-France and then for France-Switzerland, but I am glad I could support the French shop!
So, I got the dress today and I love it even more now that I have it in my hands! The print isn't really vibrant, but more of sweet pastel colours which I actually really like! It has a casual/otome vibe and is very easy to wear! It features cake, teapots, cutlery, macarons, roses and plates.
OK, I will get a bit personal here... but I actually cried when I received this OP and tried it on. Why? Because it fits! I fit into non-shirred AP dresses, which is very unreal to me. I still don't really understand how, but it does. Since I started wearing Lolita fashion, fitting into non-shirred AP always had been an unattainable dream. I finally feel "worthy". It makes me happy, but also I feel a bit sad about it as my weight has never defined who I am... but I can't help it even if I think there's something really wrong here with how I perceive myself.
Anyway, back to the topic! I haven't worn Lolita in more than a month so I was quite eager to wear my new dress! I decided to go for a very casual look with black and pink accessories. I like how it turned out! Do you like it too? :)

I know exactly how you feel about the whole fitting into an unshirred Angelic Pretty piece - although I would've imagined that you had that moment with the British Crown OP too, since that's unshirred too. :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing this print in black and in the classy way that you styled it, I really like it. Not to the point where I'd want to own it too, but it's absolutely great on you! I think of the Imai Kira collaborations Charlotte's Bear is my favourite and the one I'd be most likely to try to get myself, but I've enough drama as is with the million shades of sax, so I'm not in any rush to get it or hunt it down :P
Thank you so much for your comment and input! Well, British Crown is quite bigger than Doll's Tea Party at the bust and I was actually unsure about fitting it... And in the end it doesn't even mean anything as there will still be some unshirred dresses that I still won't fit anyway... That's just a fact: different sizes, some will fit and some won't, but it's like now I have to fit in EVERYTHING and that's not a good way of thinking.The way I see my body is a bit twisted. I think I would feel really upset now if I happen to buy a dress that doesn't fit and I don't like to think like that. I will have to work on it...
DeleteAhah I understand the struggle with AP million different shades of colours. I first wanted the lavender version of Doll's Tea Party but that lavender looks really weird (I even thought it was grey at first) and I would have ended with nothing to match with it! At least, black is black and I won't have this kind of trouble!
I always fall in love with imai kira collabs after they are out for a couple of months. They don't always catch my eye to the point where I need to own one, I find them cute but not really my style of choice. But in real life they are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that you fit into unshirred AP, it reminded me of the first time I received my first AP dress cause I thought it would never fit me. Now I hope I can work towards fitting into unshirred dresses too. You look amazing in this dress, I like it that you went for the black version it is like you said more mature and casual. Hope to see more coords with it in the future
